Well, here we are. I guess after getting a couple of books published, The Bartender's Manifesto (who we call Manny and is about to pass fifty thousand sold) and The Classic Cocktail Sessions (whose pub date is June 16th) – Emma Janzen, my co-author (who is an amazing photographer coincidentally) and I wrote a bit over three hundred thousand (yes, Three Hundred Fucking Thousand) words working on these books. So I am going to dovetail new writings in with all the great content we couldn't fit in the books that only fit 120k words. I want to be clear that only a portion of this writing has had the clear eye and razor sharp scythe of Emma's editing prowess. If there are misspellings or out-of-place hyphens and Capitalizations, that’s on me.
I love writing. And I love to have written even more, to paraphrase the Great Dorothy Parker. And since I have reached the stage where my knees and back cannot work ten hours behind the stick, it’s time for me to gracefully become an educator and author. I hope this Substack will be fun for all involved. I am still looking to improve my craft. I am lucky enough to have a bar in Vancouver WA where I can experiment. I will be writing about these flights of fancy, the ones that turn into something interesting, and the epic failures. Buckle up Buttercup! We are in for a helluva ride.
